Annual Reviews

The educational setting named in Section I of the EHCP must hold an annual review within 12 months of the date of the current EHCP to consider any changes needed to reflect the child’s / young person’s special educational needs or provision. If your child is electively home educated, please contact the SEND Team for guidance on the annual review process. A parent, carer or educational setting can request an early annual review for the following reasons:

  • The child or young person’s education, health or social care needs have changed and are no longer accurately described in the EHCP; or

  • The education, health or social care provision in the EHCP plan is no longer meeting the child or young person’s needs.

  • The child or young person has been excluded from school or is considered to be a risk of exclusion.

Any change to the funding level attached to the EHCP, requests for personal budgets or a change to the educational setting named in Section I of the EHCP must be requested through an annual review.
