14th June 10am: Intensive Interaction in the Early Years, Amandine Mouriere
Amandine is a free-lance autism and learning disability consultant and an associate of the Intensive Interaction Institute.
Amandine has vast experience of working in a variety of settings with children, families and adults with learning disabilities and/or autism. She has worked in schools, community centres and with families in their homes offering support, guidance and training.
This session will focus on applying intensive interaction techniques within the Early Years with a chance to engage in a workshop to put the theory into practice!

17th June 10am Workshop for setting to support children with complex needs with Lynette Menzies
Lynette is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with experience developed across 30yrs (26yrs NHS) working with children and young adults with complex communication needs (including autism).
Lynette works with children, families and support staff across agencies in all settings including the home and uses a wide range of approaches, including Intensive Interaction, Makaton, visual supports (including PECS), Talk Tools and PROMPT. She is an Intensive Interaction Co-ordinator, Associate and trainer for the Intensive Interaction Institute, is ADOS trained and has worked as a Makaton Regional Tutor.
This session aims to bring all of this experience together in an engaging workshop dedicated to early years settings on what approaches may work well in their setting to support children with complex needs.

17th June 9.30-11.30am: Early Years Communication and Language Therapy Toolkit
Rachel Hadfield, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will be delivering this free 2 hour workshop regarding the Early Years Communication and Language Therapy Toolkit.
This course is designed for practitioners to gain better understanding of Early Years Communication and Language Toolkit which was launched in March 2020 and available to download from our website Early Years Communications and Language Toolkit | Children's Speech and Language Therapy for Luton and Bedford (childspeechbedfordshire.nhs.uk)
The locally produced toolkit enables practitioners to carry out an assessment of a children’s speech, language and communication needs (up to 5 years), and provides a range of strategies and ideas to support children depending on the outcomes of the assessment.

Attention Autism is an intervention model designed by Gina Davies, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. It aims to develop natural and spontaneous communication through the use of visually based and highly motivating activities. 29th June 9.30-11.30am: Supporting Children’s Speech, Language and Communication Skills
Cathryn Ellingham Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will be delivering this free 2 hour workshop about supporting children’s speech language and communication skills.
This course is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of speech, language and communication development and identify useful strategies that can be applied every day.
The training outlines the building blocks of communication, how and why communication occurs and how breakdown might happen. A significant amount of time will be given discussing universal strategies and advice for supporting children with communication needs. This course is applicable for both parents and practitioners focusing on early years and primary school aged children.

29th June 1.00-2.30pm: Stammering in the early years
This workshop is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of stammering and identify useful strategies that can be applied every day to support a child who is stammering.
The training outlines stammering in children under the age of 5 years, what it might look like and the multiple factors which affect the fluency of a child’s talking. It will highlight how you can help and top tips to try and where to go next if you are worried. This course is applicable for both parents and practitioners working in early years (up to reception).

30th June 9.30-11.30am: Helping Children with their unclear speech
Rachel Hadfield Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will be delivering this free 2 hour workshop about ‘Helping children with their unclear speech’
This course is designed to increase you knowledge and understanding of speech sound development in early years and primary school aged children.
The training outlines about how we make different speech sounds, the expected development in speech sounds and what error patterns may be heard. Universal and targeted strategies and games will be discussed. This course is most useful for parents or practitioners who are concerned about their child’s pronunciation of speech sounds, and children who are at the start of their speech sound intervention with speech therapy team.
