Online Sensory Processing Training

Bedfordshire Community Paediatric Occupational Therapy Service have created a 25 minute online presentation to give more details on Sensory Processing Difficulties (SPD) and what strategies could be used to help children with managing these difficulties. 29th June 9.30-11.30am: Supporting Children’s Speech, Language and Communication Skills

Cathryn Ellingham Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will be delivering this free 2 hour workshop about supporting children’s speech language and communication skills.

 

This course is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of speech, language and communication development and identify useful strategies that can be applied every day.

 

The training outlines the building blocks of communication, how and why communication occurs and how breakdown might happen. A significant amount of time will be given discussing universal strategies and advice for supporting children with communication needs. This course is applicable for both parents and practitioners focusing on early years and primary school aged children.

29th June 1-2.30pm – Stammering in the early years- what’s it all about?

Elizabeth Wainwright and Rachel Hadfield Specialist Speech and Language Therapists will be delivering this free 1.5 hour workshop about stammering in children in the early years.

 

This course is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of stammering and identify useful strategies that can be applied every day to support a child who is stammering.

 

The training outlines stammering in children under the age of 5 years, what it might look like and the multiple factors which affect the fluency of a child’s talking. It will highlight how you can help and top tips to try and where to go next if you are worried. This course is applicable for both parents and practitioners working in early years (up to reception).

30th June 9.30-11.30am: Helping Children with their unclear speech

Rachel Hadfield Specialist Speech and Language Therapist will be delivering this free 2 hour workshop about ‘Helping children with their unclear speech’

 

This course is designed to increase you knowledge and understanding of speech sound development in early years and primary school aged children.

 

The training outlines about how we make different speech sounds, the expected development in speech sounds and what error patterns may be heard. Universal and targeted strategies and games will be discussed. This course is most useful for parents or practitioners who are concerned about their child’s pronunciation of speech sounds, and children who are at the start of their speech sound intervention with speech therapy team.

2nd July 2021 12 noon ADHD Workshop with Clinical Nurse Specialist

Mr Darrin Lowe is a Clinical Nurse Specialist,  ADHD  and has worked within Bedfordshire Community Health Services (Cambridgeshire Community Services Trust CCS) supporting children, families, schools and others. The session will explore ADHD in children and young people, with an opportunity for a Q&A at the end.

5th July 10am Sleep Disorders in Children with SEND with Consultant Community Paediatrician Dr Tapomay Banerjee

Dr Banerjee is a consultant community paediatrician within Bedfordshire Community Health Services (Cambridgeshire Community Services Trust CCS) and has been supporting children and their families with sleep disorders for a number of years. 

The session will explore sleep disorders in children with Special educational needs and disabilities, with an opportunity for a Q&A at the end.
