Education, Employment and Post 16 Training

The earlier a young person begins to think about what they would like to do after they finish secondary school, the more time they will have to consider their options and put plans in place. For young people with an Education Health and Care Plan they will begin to think about their future plans and aspirations in year nine (or even sooner), as part of their annual review.

Most young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities want to be employed once they become adults, and we want to support them to reach their goals.

Helping young people make decisions about where they want to go after school and what they want to do is really important. We suggest that they visit colleges and post 16 providers with parent or carers early on to get an idea what is available.
