Monday 24th of January 7pm to 9pm - Teen Brain

Teen Brain Matters for Parents is a FREE 2 hour workshop for parents developed by Professor John Coleman exclusively for Bedford Borough Council.

Teenage behaviour used to be explained through physical changes associated with puberty but new development has shown that other than the first 3 years of life the brain goes through the biggest change in its development during adolescence.

This workshop brings together the latest understanding of neuroscience and development psychology. During this workshop, parents will learn more about the changes their children are going through in adolescent brain development to help them motivate and support young people in an emotionally healthy context.

Community Activities/Short Breaks Focus Group

Thursday 13th January - 10am, Saturday 17th January - 10am and Monday 19th January - 7pm

Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum are working with Bedford Borough Council to look at local community activities/short breaks for Bedford Borough families who have children with SEND. We would like to hear from families to gather views about what they would like to see available for their child.  What would you like your child with SEND to be able to access?

If you have a child aged between 0 to 25 in Bedford with any form of SEND, what activity groups would you like them to attend or what do they already attend that you think is a valuable resource for them.

With the financial challenges faced by local Authorities across the country it is more important than ever that we listen to service users to ensure we offer the right services that offer the best value to the community.

The information gathered at the focus groups will feed into a review we are undertaking into the short breaks offer.
