Following feedback that parents/carers wanted to have one place which listed all the training available to them, we are pleased to launch our new monthly training page on the Local Offer.

This page will be regularly updated as we become aware of more training available so do keep coming back to check for updates. Please contact us  if you are aware of any training that you feel should be included on this page

What is the online workshop about?

The managing fighting and aggression online workshop is a two hour stand alone workshop where you will meet other parents experiencing similar issues. You will receive lots of positive tips and strategies proven to work with all families. These group sessions will be relaxed and informal; you can contribute as much or as little as you want. We will watch some video clips of common parenting issues, have a chat about these, share some tips and ideas and you choose the strategies you feel with work with your family.

Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum

ADHDWise Presentation 

Wednesday 22nd September - 7pm

Jannine from ADHDWise will be doing a presentation around ADHD and what it's like to have a child living with ADHD. She will give ideas and tips on how to help your child.

Anti-Bullying Workshop

Thursday 23rd September - 10am-12pm and 7-8.30pm

This workshop will cover what we mean by bullying, what the statistics tell us locally, how the Borough Council supports schools to tackle bullying, the challenges for pupils with disabilities or SEND, reporting bullying and being aware of the resources available for parents.

It will be led by Vicky Hayward and Ian Lindsay, who work for the School Improvement Team.

BLMK SEND eLearning for Parents and Practitioners

Bedford Borough Council and Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum have worked with partners from across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes to coproduce a set of 3 eLearning modules where you can learn more about SEND and the Childrens and Families Act 2014.

You can access the training through clicking here . You will need to register as a new user to be able to access the training. For many of the registration questions parents can simply answer N/A.

Carers in Bedfordshire

Carers in Beds provide a range of support and training for unpaid carers and can be viewed here.  We have picked up the specific parent carers training events below 


14 September @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Talk on Bipolar Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr David Middleton, for this talk about bipolar disorder. He will focus on how people living with this condition can be supported.

Scamming Presentation

21 September @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm An informative online presentation by Community Bankers for NatWest, Sally Schofield and Ann Mckie, who help educate and support communities with information about how to stay safe from frauds and scams.  

The talk will give you tips on what to look out for, red flags to be aware of, what do if you feel you have been scammed and places to get help and support. They will cover the most common scams seen and give you some real life examples. Registration for Scamming Presentaion
