Monday 5th July 2021 10am-12pm Online Triple P Dealing with Disobedient

Parents and Carers of Children aged 3yrs to 12yrs

Dealing with Disobedience Workshop

It can be challenging when children are been disobedient and not doing as they are told. Parents can sometimes struggle when dealing with different situations, those day to day challenges that every parent faces. For example when you ask your child to do something many times and you get ignored! Or you get a smart answer back! Or that constant whinging and whining. So we are supporting parents to do that and come up with a plan.

So what is this workshop all about ?
The dealing with disobedience workshop is a two hour stand alone workshop where you will meet other parents experiencing similar issues. You will receive lots of positive tips and strategies proven to work with all families. These group sessions will be relaxed and informal; you can contribute as much or as little as you want. We will watch some video clips of common parenting issues, have a chat about these, share some tips and ideas and you choose the strategies you feel with work with your family

Many parents experience conflict with their teenagers as they become young adults for example arguing, shouting, swearing or aggressive behaviour. Disagreements between siblings can be a major problem for families. This can be upsetting and lead to conflict between parents and teenagers. Teenagers friendships can influence how they speak and behave at home.. Teenagers need limits and rules for their behaviour and need to learn to get on with others at home, at school and in their community. Triple P gives tips and ideas that make parenting easier and help you come up with a plan to reduce family conflict.

Wellbeing Service Information Talk - 22 July

My name is Jane Miller and I’m a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (or PWP for short) and I work at the Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service. I’m trained to work with common mental health problems, such as anxiety and low mood and I work as part of a wider team of professionals who are also trained to work with these difficulties.

Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service was designed to help people manage everyday problems like:

– Feeling low

– Feeling worried, stressed or panicky

– Sleeping difficulties

– Problems with low self-esteem

– Problems dealing with traumatic life events (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)

– Obsessions and compulsions

– Helping people adjusting to change

and is used by people from all over Bedfordshire. GPs and other people refer to our service but you can also refer yourself.

We already provide therapy to many carers suffering with mental health issues, but we also want to spread the word to Older Adults and we know many carers do care for this age group, so we wanted to offer a little more detail about what we can provide.

This presentation will explain more about our service and will outline two of the basic Cognitive Behavioural Therapy treatments that we offer for depression and anxiety, in the hope that any carers who see these mental health problems in the ones they are caring for, can encourage them to try and use the service.

Look forward to speaking to many of you in July! Bring lots of questions!

  • Thursday 22 July, 11am-12pm
  • Hosted by Jane Miller
  • This is for Carers, the people they care for and former carers

This is free via Zoom.  Sign up and we will send you the link to join us. Sign me up
