Grassroots Day Nursery

Response to COVID-19

Are you open for keyworkers children and vulnerable children? No

Are you willing to accept children from other providers? No

The Grassroots Ethos is all about embracing a child's natural path of discovery in a safe and stimulating environment with a strong emphasis on outdoor play whilst following the practice guidance of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Based on a family-run farm, the nursery offers children aged 3 months to five years a unique setting in which to learn, grow and develop. Making full use of the attractive surroundings, set in over 100 acres of farmland, children can learn hands on in a natural countryside environment and take part in numerous down-to-earth activities. Collecting eggs from the chickens, farm walks and wellies will all form part of the day-to-day routine for your child, whilst being cared for by a dedicated and qualified team of staff.

We now have our 'Forest School' and FOUR QUALIFIED FSA (Forest School Association) accredited LEVEL 3 Forest School Leaders utilising 5 acres of established woodland. Sessions are offered to children aged 3 years and above and are offered throughout the year, with 'break periods' to provide the woodland time to rest and to rotate the Forest School days, to enable all the pre-school children to go.

Notes

We are a private farm-based nursery setting for a total of 34 children (including 9 under twos) which will offer your child a small and friendly place to learn, grow and develop. We realise the first steps out of the home environment for a child can be daunting, therefore our nursery aims to become a wider part of your family rather than a place of business!

In addition to adhering to the high standards set out by Ofsted and following the Early Years Foundation Stage - Grassroots was created to offer parents a down-to-earth, choice of child care - where the stimulating environment and farm setting are the basis for our activities.

Outdoor play will always be positively encouraged - wellington boots will be an essential part of everyday life at Grassroots where the countryside becomes our classroom. As well as boasting 5 acres of woodland for Forest School (accessed by children aged 3+yrs) we also offer farm walks for discovery, visits to our own animals including pigs, donkeys, cows, ducks and chickens, and lots of outdoor play which happily sit alongside more typical activities such as creative and messy play, role play, construction, baking, dance and games.

Its all about child initiated experiences, which encourages active imaginations and the development of skills and basic concepts. Toys and equipment have been specifically chosen to encourage each age group to explore and experiment using materials that are new and exciting, which for the older children includes holistic learning in preparation for a successful transition into full time school.
