Wheelchair hire

We can help when you have a temporary need for a wheelchair.

Maybe you have broken your leg, perhaps an elderly relative is coming to stay, or you could be waiting for a wheelchair to be provided by the NHS.

The Disability Resource Centre hires out manual wheelchairs and other equipment like ramps, rollators, crutches and walking frames to help you with your mobility. 

We have both self-propelling chairs (with large rear wheels) and attendant-controlled chairs (four small wheels, helper to push). We also have child-sized wheelchairs and a bariatric wheelchair for people weighing over 18 stones.

We have sets of leg extensions if required, subject to availability.

We charge (from July 2nd 2018) £15 per week or £18 per week if you pay VAT.  We usually supply wheelchairs for up to 4 weeks, but this can be extended if necessary up to 12 weeks (terms and conditions do apply).  Please note that we ask for a deposit of £50 which is returned to you when the chair is returned to us.

Types of wheelchair that we can supply for hire include:

• A manual wheelchair with rims for self-propelling

• A self-propelled wheelchair

• A wheelchair suitable for children up to 12 years old.
