Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum - Online Spring term events

Please see below the list of Spring term events 

Friday 15th January 10am Mainstream School Remote Learning Feedback 

We have organised a Zoom call and are looking to hear your feedback on how you are finding the remote learning for your children with SEND who are in Mainstream School.  We are happy to hear positive or negative feedback and will feed this back to the local authority.

 

Monday 18th January 10am  Special School Remote Learning Feedback 

We have organised a Zoom call and are looking to hear your feedback on how you are finding the remote learning for your children with SEND who are in Special School.  We are happy to hear positive or negative feedback and will feed this back to the local authority.

 

Thursday 21st January  10am-12.30pm  Dyslexia Training from British Dyslexia Association 

This course will be held online.  This is the very first module and it will help you gain a proper understanding of what dyslexia is. By developing this understanding, you will be able to appreciate the challenges that your child faces with many aspects of learning as well as recognise the strengths and abilities that they have.

 

 

Wednesday 27th January 6.30-9pm  Dyslexia Training from British Dyslexia Association

Thursday 4th February –10am  Amy White (Public Health Update) and ADHD Medication with Darrin Lowe 

Amy White will be joining us online to give a brief update on what is happening with Public Health locally.  Following this Darrin Lowe will be available to discuss ADHD medication with parents.

 

Tuesday 9th Feb 10-11.30  7-8.30pm SENDiass training

SENDiass have been arranging some bitesize training sessions for parent carers and practitioners. We are currently waiting for confirmation of the subject for this month.

 

Wednesday 24th Feb 7pm –SEND Support Get Together 

This will be an online session to discuss what is SEND Support and what should you be aware of.

 

Monday 15th March 10am Virtual Get Together What is personalisation?

This will be an online presentation which will let you know what personalisation is for your child with SEND. There will also be time for questions and discussion.

 

Monday 22nd March 10am  Virtual Get Together Down’s Syndrome (impact from Covid)

This will be an online discussion session about the impact of Covid on young people with Down’s Syndrome.  We want to hear how it has impacted your family.

Bedford Borough Parent Carer Forum (BBPCF)  are a group of parents and carers of SEN & disabled children who work in partnership with local authorities, education, health, social care and other providers to ensure the services they commission, plan and deliver meet the needs of SEN & disabled children and their families. Any parent or carer of a child or young person aged 0-25 can be a member.
