Standalone Farm - Letchworth

What has changed at the Farm as a result of Covid-19?

To visit Standalone you will need to book your tickets online, in advance whether you are a day visitor or an Annual Passholder.

Opening Hours

Daily either 10am to 1pm 2pm to 5pm.  The farm will be closed between 1pm - 2pm to carry out additional cleaning.

You will still be able to see your favourite animals from a safe distance and enjoy the play area, model railway, and gardens.

Our café is open for takeaway drinks as well as ice cream, plus our outdoor picnic area is set up for you to enjoy your packed lunch. Hot food and snacks won’t be available for the summer season.

Play equipment is still in use, but we have a new system in place to ensure all children get a chance to play while maintaining social distancing. However, some activities won’t be running, such as tractor rides, and enclosed spaces including the barns and sandpit will be closed. That’s why we have reduced the ticket price for day visitors.

With most of our enclosed spaces being shut, please check the weather before leaving home and bring umbrellas, raincoats, hats, and sun cream, depending on what is forecast.

For your comfort and safety, we have added extra toilets in the courtyard (this is in addition to our existing toilets).

We are also unable to take any cash at this time. All payments for our Greenway Cafe and Snack Stop will be taken via card or contactless payment. We are also unable to provide any change for the electric cars or Model Railway so be sure to bring some coins with you! It is £1 for the electric cars and 20p for the Model Railway.

How accessible is Standalone Farm?

We’ve worked hard to make as much of our farm as easily accessible as possible. We are a working farm and some areas may have uneven or muddy terrain, especially in the winter months. We have step free access to the main building, gift shop, Greenway Café and courtyard. There are disabled toilets onsite, located just outside the shop as you enter. We offer disabled parking bays and our staff are on hand to help.

For our hearing-impaired customers, we have installed a hearing loop system in the Greenway Café and gift shop.

Visitors with a disability and carers can enter Standalone Farm for free, when they show photographic proof. Please email if you have any questions.

Do you have disabled facilities onsite?

Yes, we have a disabled toilet located just outside the shop as you enter.

What do I need to bring to prove my disability?

We accept HAND cards, carer cards, and any form of photographic proof. Please email for further clarification.

Is there car parking?

We’re just over three miles drive away from A1(M) junction 10, clearly marked on road signs off the A507. Our postcode is SG6 4JN. Free car parking is available on our farm.

Review by The Bedford Mum on Facebook

Standalone Farm isn’t the biggest or the most polished farm we’ve been to, but it was definitely one of our favourites. Especially for the little ones. They have all the farm animals you would expect - sheep, alpacas, pigs, chickens - which was great.

And it definitely had that authentic farm feel, with mud and tractors and a bubbling brook. But it was the little touches that we enjoyed more than anything.

Watch out for the hidden fairy trail around the sheep field, which my 5 year old loved spotting. And the huge Thomas train track, with its own mini farm, which my 2 year old made us stand next to for what felt like hours (remember to bring some 20p for this).

It also has a fantastic play area, which they are manning brilliantly during Covid. A limited number of children are allowed on the big play area at one time, for 15 minute slots. But don’t worry, there are smaller play areas they can play on while waiting their turn for the big one.

There are loads of picnic tables and a huge space for little ones to run around. But just remember to bring your own picnic, as their cafe is only serving drinks and ice-cream at the moment (we got caught out by this)!

But what I was most impressed with was the price. They are currently running 3 hour morning and afternoon sessions, but unlike most places, they are only charging half price as you can only stay half the day. So it’s a real bargain too.
