Review from MK Kids 21st July 2020
FREE TO VISIT! AMPTHILL PARK, BEDFORDSHIRE - NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT! Thanks to Lenka for this recommendation. She says "We went to Ampthill Park on Saturday and again on Sunday. My boys are 3 & 11 and they both enjoyed it. They apparently refurbished it and re-opened last Friday, but we haven’t been there before. There is a new trampoline, a climbing frame and a new zip line (opening soon as the concrete has to settle so not opened at the time we went there) and lovely countryside and forest around with a small trail that you can follow. The post code we used was MK45 2HX and you can park free of charge just on the road opposite to the park entrance. Also each equipment has the maximum number of kids allowed on it. Ampthill Park including the Ampthill Park Hub Cafe
Ampthill Great Park is owned and managed by Ampthill Town Council, assisted by The Greensand Trust
Approximately 160 acres of parkland and woodland, including a Children's Play Area, Park Hub with Cafe and Toilets, Tennis Courts, Ampthill Town Cricket Club, Ampthill Town Football Club and Ampthill Angling Club. The Park is cared for by a Park and Amenities Manager and The Greensand Trust rangers.
Charges are made in respect of camping by cadet organisations/youth clubs/school parties, orienteering, cross country events, caravan parking by registered organisations, the release of pigeons and use by Circuses. Please contact the Council with your enquiries. Car parking is available in two car parks (central car park by the Football Club and the west car park located just off the A507 bypass) for users visiting the Park.
The Park is much more than a pleasant place to visit; it’s a nationally important historic site. Henry VIII hunted here and the parkland landscape we enjoy today was created by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 18th century. It is also home to a variety of interesting wildlife and the park's veteran trees, many planted by Capability Brown, some even older, are a valuable part of the park's heritage.
You can contact Phil Nicholson, Park and Amenities Manager on 07710 829 327 / 01525 844173 or email: email@example.com
