Our operation

The safety and well-being of our passengers and staff is our number one priority. We continue to rigorously implement all Government guidance. The measures currently in place at the airport include:

  • Enhanced cleaning in the terminal
  • Installation of hand sanitiser units
  • Installation of floor markings and signage, so passengers can maintain a safe distance
  • Installation of protective screens where appropriate at customer service points such as check-in
  • Displaying the latest public health information throughout the airport including regular announcements
  • Passengers should wear a face covering, wash their hands regularly and keep a distance


Please do not travel if feeling unwell and follow the latest Government guidance regarding safer air travel.

Passengers arriving in the UK will be required to share contact details, travel information and may be required to self-isolate for 14 days. Click here for more information.

Passenger Information

Lift replacements at Luton Airport Parkway station

From Monday 20th July until Tuesday 3 November, Network Rail will be conducting essential work to replace three lifts at Luton Airport Parkway. During this work, customers with accessibility needs, particularly wheelchair users, will need to take a paid-for taxi from an alternative station, with Harpenden being the closest station.

If you are concerned your flight may be cancelled or you wish to discuss changing your travel plans please contact your airline.

Parking

We have temporarily closed Mid Stay and Long Stay to new entrants. Please use Terminal Car Park 1 or Terminal Car Park 2.

We are currently only accepting card payments at our pay machines.

Drop off/Pick up

We are honouring the 1-hour free drop off/pick up usually available in Long Stay in Terminal Car Park 1 or Terminal Car Park 2. Please speak to a member off the APCOA team via the intercom service at any pay on foot machine if you require this service.

We are currently only accepting card payments at the drop-off/pick-up barriers.

As per Government guidance we ask that you only drop off/collect people who live in the same household as you or those in your "support bubble".

Due to current Government guidance on social distancing, we ask that only those flying enter the terminal and we ask that you avoid entering the terminal to greet or wave off passengers.

Inside LLA

For a list of shops and restaurants that are currently open, please see the FAQs below. Please note, they may be operating reduced trading hours.

All other shops, restaurants and lounges remain temporarily closed. Vending machines are available before and after security. We apologise for any inconvenience.

SEND Person's advice to visiting the airport:

You may wish to visit the airport prior to your trip to get familiar with the surroundings, the noise, amount of people, the lights, the announcements.You may also wish to find the Special Assitance Desk. We have included some guides provided by Luton airport on this page which you can find in the downloads tab.

You should also aim to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your departure time on the day, so that you can adjust to the airport setting and make sure you are comfortable before using your Sunflower Lanyard going through Fast Track security.

Sunflower lanyard for hidden disabilities
We understand that some passengers may not want to share details of their hidden disabilities. If this applies to you or someone you're travelling with we can offer you a sunflower lanyard to wear on your journey through our airport.

This will identify you to staff as someone who may need additional support or understanding.  Our staff have been specially trained to recognise the lanyard and act accordingly. The Sunflower is recognised at most UK airports as identifying Hidden disabilities and if you have an existing sunflower lanyard, this will also be recognised and accepted here.

Lanyards are available at our Special Assistance desk which is signposted on a yellow background from the entrance to the terminal building; you don’t have to be using the special assistance service to obtain a lanyard and are free to travel through the airport unescorted.

By using a lanyard it will help our teams recognise and assist you at every stage, it also allows you and your immediate family to use the Fast Track Security free of charge.

Special Assistance 

If you think there’s a chance you may need Special Assistance, it’s always best to tell your airline when you book or no later than 48 hours before departure. They’ll get in touch with us, and we’ll take care of the rest.Using Special Assistance

What if I change my mind or need extra help?

If you haven’t pre-booked Special Assistance, but you decide you need help while you’re at the airport, you can ask any of our uniformed staff, and they’ll contact the Special Assistance team straight away or go to a Special Assistance desk which is sign-posted throughout the airport.

Check-in ASAP

Customers and their companions should Check-in as soon as possible, and then go straight to Security.

Arriving at Security

On arrival at Security, if you have obtained your lanyard you can go straight through the Fast Track Security Lane.

Any special requirements should be explained to a member of the Security team who’ll be able to help you.


Private search area

If you’d prefer, we have a private search area – all you have to do is ask.

In the Departures area

Once you have gone through fast track security using your Sunflower Lanyard, you can go to Gate 17 where there is a Designated Quiet Zone and Changing Places toilet. 

There is also a water fountain by the lifts after security, if you miss this one, you can find one at Pret a Manger. 

If you require Special Assistance and have notified your airline of this, once you have visited the desk before security, and gone through security, head to Gate 20 when your ready, and staff will arange your transport onto the plane.
