Aurora House

Aurora House is a new specialist service for young people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and complex needs who are taking their first steps towards independent living with support. People living at Aurora House are enabled to benefit from having a tenancy agreement coupled with 24 hours specialist support regulated by CQC. At Aurora House, we are taking personalisation one step further by offering packages of individualised accommodation and support that are driven by the capabilities of each person whilst ensuring all their needs are met. The people living at Aurora House have exclusive possession of their own room and enjoy shared access to the communal kitchen, living and other communal areas. The users of service at Aurora House are provided with housing management and housing related support to further their life skills, maintain their accommodation and access to benefits. All users of the service lead an empowered and fuller life, with supported opportunities to explore the world and break down invisible barriers a priority for the motivated staff group.

The home incorporates autism friendly design elements and special sensory features and provides accommodation for adults in large single bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. The three ground floor bedrooms are suitable for wheelchair users and are compliant with all relevant environmental norms. There are no barriers to wheelchair use over the entire ground floor and outside areas. The home has large spacious areas which have been creatively designed with specialist lighting and high quality fixtures and fittings.

Aurora House is close to Bedford town centre and provides easy access to mainstream community services, such as shops, leisure facilities and recreational amenities.

As an individualized service, Aurora House promotes independence by supporting transition, adopting the ethos of freedom and choice.
