Learning Disability Weekly Drop-In Session @ Gallone's Ice Cream Parlour

Learning Disability Drop-In Sessions

 11 April 2018

Caring staff from a Bedford ice cream parlour have been praised for their support of a project to help adults with learning disabilities.

Gallones in The Arcade is hosting a weekly drop-in service for people with a learning disability and their carers.

The sessions are run by the Trust's Learning Disabilities Intensive Support Team (IST).

Dedicated IST staff provide community-based support and advice for adults with learning disabilities living within Bedfordshire and Luton.

The Intensive Support Team offer assessment, treatment and support to Adults in Bedfordshire with a learning disability, experiencing acute behaviours of concern and/or mental health problems.

The drop-in sessions are held every Thursday from 5:30pm to 7 30pm and designed to provide an opportunity to provide expert help from ELFT professionals in an informal setting in central Bedford.

“We will be there every week to answer your questions and make sure you get the help you need,” said Clinical Nurse Billy Chase.

“Gallones is central, easy to reach and easy to spot – which can be really important for people with learning difficulties who can find some daily tasks really challenging that others take for granted.

“The staff have been amazing and we are so grateful for their support.”

She added: “We hope this project can make a real difference and the sessions are open for anyone with learning disabilities to attend.”
