Turvey Pre-School -TERM TIME ONLY

We are a small village pre-school offering a friendly, welcoming and caring environment to all children and their families. We have a small, experienced staff team all qualified to level 3. We have a maximum of 24 children per session (summer term) with appropriate adult ratio.

We offer high quality care and play based learning to support children’s individual development in the Early Years. We have an experienced SENDCO who works closely with children and their families as well as with the staff team to ensure on-going support for children’s individual needs during their time with us. Our activities include outdoor play, trips to the park, cooking, adult-led activities, physical play, creative and much more. We include seasonal and festive activities among these.

Everything we do relates to the EYFS framework, covering all seven learning areas. We plan activities on a weekly basis to reflect on each child’s interest and individual need. Plans may change through the week depending on children’s interests. Every child has a keyperson to ensure their needs are met and the keyperson builds a strong relationship with the child and family.

We have good links with Turvey Primary School and surrounding village schools to support children’s transition and we work especially closely with them for SEND children.

Inclusion Information

Special Needs

Details
Our SENDCO has been trained since 2008 with regular training to keep updated. She has completed level 3 in supporting children and young people in speech and communication and attended various workshops which include sign language and autism awareness. She undertakes relevant training as required to keep up-to-date and to ensure we can meet children’s individual needs. Our SENDCO has lots of experience in speech and language and hearing loss. She has also worked with children with autism. Our building is an old listed building on the high street which is wheelchair accessible by a low front step. Inside it is all on one level and the toilets are child wheelchair friendly. We access outside support from speech and language, education psychologists, teachers for the deaf and can access other support if needed.

Dietary Needs

Details
We cater for children who are dairy and gluten intolerant, for children with allergies eg nut/egg and for children with cultural dietary requirements.
