Independent Advocacy

An advocate is someone who can help you to get your views across and supports you to have your say when decisions are being made about you. An advocate can give you information about your rights, help you have your say at meetings, speak on your behalf when decisions are being made or help you to make a complaint if you are not happy with the service or support you receive. Your advocate is independent (separate) from Bedford Borough Council and works for you and only you. Your Social Worker or Personal Advisor can make a referral for advocacy support or you can contact them on the details below.

If you are under 18, Barnardos provide your advocacy support and you can call them on 0800 9177947 (mobiles will be charged), text them on 07584 206572 or email them on: Barnardosyoungpeople@barnardos.org.uk

If you are over 18, VoiceAbility provide independent advocacy and you can contact them on 0300 303 1660 or by email at helpline@voiceability.org
